Giving Back

hey team
Alisa Meyer and Page Warner volunteered to join the planning committee and be the contact points in T.L. Page lives there and Alisa goes there often. Thanks Alisa and Page!

Page suggested we go back 20 years to her class.. and was planning to have a reunion next year anyway!
I contacted Beki Duke at the Old School and we are discussing using the Old School from 6:30 - 9:30 on Sat. Aug. 2nd. They will have church there the next morning, so we would want to clean everything up and help them set up afterward. Alisa pointed out that there is no alcohol allowed there... what do you think about that? Is that a big problem? I was thinking one way around that, would be to plan an afterparty somewhere else where people can get together and have some drinks if they like... Alisa suggested Adam Schmid's house... we will talk to him about that. I wonder about the Grange Hall.... or maybe the Trout Lake Country Inn... or isn't there usually a barn dance at the Morris's that night of the fair? We could all crash it! I won't be drinking, but I want people to feel comfortable if that's what they like to do, it could be an awkward night.

I am discussing this with Mr. Dearden (principal at Trout Lake School now you know that right?) via email, and invited him to attend. He said he would, and maybe the Trout Lake School teachers would as well, and possibly even perform a skit for us. :) What do you think about a talent show? Do you think people would perform things?

Mr Dearden mentioned looking for ways to connect alumni and current students, and it made me think of some ways we could use this reunion not just as a way to reminisce but also as a way to give back to the school that helped shape us. I'm thinking of a possible service project on Saturday, at T.L. School, or maybe just a discussion at the reunion of some ideas for how we can be involved at T.L. School in the future. Does this spark any ideas for you?

I'm thinking a gratitude wall would be great... a big piece of paper where we can write down things we are grateful for that we learned from each other and from Trout Lake School.

Another feature of a reunion I think would be networking opportunities... how can we encourage networking?

What other functions do reunions serve?

This is so fun!

Wow! I am really excited that 20 years of TL High School students will be getting together. A service project or project funding would be a really great way to give back to the community. What about repairing the Grange? Or an environmental project?

Lumina...really glad that you are in the "Land of the Morning Calm"...I hope your time in Korea brings you great peace.

Tammie
